TO THE KRASTOVS
To the Elders of the Krastov Clan,
Subject: Progress Report on Peggle Krastov’s “Temporary Exile.”
As requested, I have been gathering information on Peggle’s time in Edelith. My initial addeddment–that i was “way over my head”-may have been premature. Edelith seems to be affecting him in ways unexpected. Though I may not see him with my own eyes, my associates see his every move. We check his footsteps moments after they slam on the ground, we check the small blooming flowers in the wake of his wrath, and it is evident that his rage is only getting more unstable.
His physical prowess remains, as you know, comparable to a natural disaster. Reports from the town of Tarpaul Pit describe an incident where he eviscerated an entire gang of men with ease. His fury was described as “a storm that made the torches flicker,” a phrase I am sure is familiar to you. His trek up to the mountains as part of his expedition was rather elementary at first, but we saw something unforeseen to us. A rage equivalent to that of Peggle, a force not to be reckoned with. In the aftermath, it took us 4 days to find him, his spirit was weak, broken, fearful, and worst of all hopeless. He has been feeling better since then but something is different. His rage is broken, it's muted, it's like he sends it through the ground into the roots instead of through his fists. The boy you sent away to be fixed is not simply being fixed. He is changing. The ancient roots of Edelith seem to be resonating with something in him—something beyond the Krastov rage. I cannot yet say if this will lead to the control you seek or to the birth of a different kind of monster. But I can say this: the fight for Peggle's soul is far from over.
I will continue to observe him, and I will report back when I have a clearer understanding of these new developments. For now, know that the path he walks is unforeseen, and the outcome remains uncertain.
With continued dedication,
-E
